We work from Temple Terrace and cover the ground around it: the City of Tampa to the west and south, unincorporated communities such as Carrollwood, Egypt Lake-Leto, Lutz and New Tampa to the north and west, and Thonotosassa, Seffner and Brandon to the east. Straight-line, the nearest of them is a mile or two from City Hall and the farthest, Brandon, about ten miles.
Three Utilities, and Some Addresses on None of Them
Temple Terrace runs its own water and sewer. Tampa runs its own, and it also serves some unincorporated ground, such as the area near USF. Hillsborough County supplies the Carrollwood, Seffner and Brandon side, and part of Lake Magdalene. In Lutz and Thonotosassa, a county map check found points with no mapped service at all.
That decides who answers when the problem is in the street, so we ask for the address before we say whose job it is. Our post on who to call for water and sewer problems lists the numbers.
Housing Age Sorts These Places Better Than Distance
The oldest plumbing is in Sulphur Springs, where four in ten houses predate 1950, and around the Temple Terrace golf course, where the first mains went in during 1922-25. The mid-century ranch belt runs from Egypt Lake-Leto through Forest Hills to the Temple Terrace river plats. The 1980s are Carrollwood, River Run and Raintree, Seffner and Lake Magdalene, and New Tampa is the newest, with a median build year of 2002.

If Your Street Sits Between Two Pages
Mailing names and city limits disagree here. Temple Crest has Temple Terrace-style ZIP codes but is in Tampa, Raintree touches the Tampa line, and Thonotosassa plats within a few miles of City Hall can be on city, county or Tampa lines. Read both pages, or call with the street, the ZIP and the year the house was built. Landlords can use the landlord checklist to plan around tenants.
